GEC Scholarship FundBeth Hartka

The GEC Scholarship Fund exists to fulfill GEC’s mission: Graham Equestrian Center is an nonprofit educational organization that promotes the joy of horses to a diverse community, regardless of income or ability, through riding and therapeutic horsemanship activities, while preserving the open space of Gunpowder Falls State Park.

As such, GEC retains funds received via grants and donations to enable us to provide riding scholarships to deserving individuals, which includes adaptive riding for persons with differing abilities and/or financial constraints. Scholarships may fully or partially fund the participants lessons.

In order for GEC’s Scholarship fund to best serve the community, scholarship recipients must have excellent attendance. Poor attendance is grounds for removal from the program. Prior to applying, please honestly assess the transportation options for the participant. In some cases GEC may be able to use scholarship funds to enable reliable transportation, on a case by case basis.

Each scholarship award funds one participant for weekly lessons during an 8 week session. The session that the participant may schedule for will depend on the timing of the scholarship award in combination with the existing session schedule. The participant or parent/guardian is responsible for scheduling the lessons in GEC’s scheduling portal and recipients will receive further instruction how to do so.
